Oborevwori Mourns Uduaghan, Says Delta Won’t Forget His Legacies

Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has described the late former governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, as an exceptional leader whose contributions to the development of the state would remain indelible.

Oborevwori spoke during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased former governor, who died on Monday at the age of 71.

The governor, accompanied by his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, and top government functionaries, commiserated with Uduaghan’s widow, Mrs Roli Uduaghan, and other members of the family.

He said the widespread grief over Uduaghan’s death and the large turnout of mourners reflected the late governor’s impact on the lives of the people and his contributions to Delta State.

Recalling their political relationship, Oborevwori described Uduaghan as his former boss who played a significant role in his political journey.

“He was my boss. He gave me the highest political appointment, Special Adviser, in 2007. That is something that really touches my heart. You are all aware that he supported me throughout this journey,” the governor said.

He described the deceased as a calm, articulate and thoughtful leader who demonstrated commitment to the development of Delta State.

Oborevwori particularly commended Uduaghan for constructing the Asaba International Airport, describing the facility as one of his enduring legacies and an important asset to the state.

He noted that the former governor’s decision to execute development projects without narrow ethnic considerations demonstrated his commitment to the overall progress of Delta State.

The governor assured that his administration would continue to recognise and preserve worthy projects inherited from previous administrations, stressing the importance of sustaining existing infrastructure while making necessary improvements.

He cited the ongoing modification of the Effurun Roundabout Flyover as an example of efforts to improve inherited infrastructure.

“He has gone, but he can never be forgotten by Deltans,” Oborevwori said.

The governor had earlier joined family members and other dignitaries, including Uduaghan’s daughter, Orode, and former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, to receive the former governor’s remains at Osubi Airport.

He also signed the condolence register, expressing sadness over the death and extending his sympathies to the bereaved family and the people of Delta State.

In his tribute, Oborevwori wrote: “I am saddened by the demise of the former Governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan. He was a great boss. I commiserate with his beloved wife, children, family members and Deltans over this great loss.

“May God grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss. Your impact in Delta can never be forgotten. Asamaigor, RIP.”

Uduaghan governed Delta State from 2007 to 2015.
